Dr. Andrew Honeycutt (born in Humboldt, Kansas) is an African-American American educator and political candidate for Georgia's 63rd State House of Representatives District. He is the Distinguished Professor of Business at Shorter University and a Northwestern University Nissan Marketing Fellow. He is married to Deborah Honeycutt, who has also ran several times for a seat in the Georgia House of Representatives, but was unsuccessful, and he has been her campaign manager for those campaigns.[1]

Early life

Andrew is the oldest son of a family of nine children of a Baptist minister and a defense plant worker.

College

Honeycutt attended Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas, receiving a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology (B.A.) degree. While at Ottawa Honeycutt was an active student athlete. He received ALL-KCAC honors for football for offense and defense, helping his team place 2nd in KCAC. He also helped his basketball team place 3rd in KCAC his senior year, and helped his track team win 1st in KCAC. May 19, 2001 Andrew, was inducted into the Ottawa University Braves Athletic Hall of Fame.

Upon graduating, he applied and was accepted to Boston University School of Management. He was the first African American male to graduate from Boston University School of Management with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. After Receiving his MBA, Andrew studied at Harvard Business School, there he received a DBA with a concentration in Marketing.

Military Service

Andrew was also a member of the United States Army, graduating from both Officers Candidate School in Ft. Benning, Georgia and Airborne School in Ft. Benning, Georgia. He briefly served in Germany during the Vietnam War in intelligence before returning back to the United States.

Academic career

After graduating from Harvard School of Business, Andrew moved to Florida and became Associate Professor of Marketing at Florida A & M University. After spending several years at Florida A & M University, he has taught at Clark Atlanta University where he served as professor of marketing, Texas Southern University where he served as Associate Professor of Business, Grambling State University where he served as Associate Professor of Business, and Washburn University where he served as Associate Professor of Business. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Argosy University, Capella University, and Saint Leo University

Andrew has served as Dean of Savannah State University College of Business Administration and University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff School of Business and Management.
